Walt Disney's Avengers: Endgame, Frozen 2 and Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge were among the winners at the 11th Annual Lumiere Awards on Jan. 22, Wednesday night. Located at Steven J. Ross Theater on the Warner Bros. studio lot.
The Lumiere Awards is hosted by The Advanced Imaging Society recognize outstanding international achievement in immersive storytelling using advanced visual and audio technologies.
"There was a wise man named John Lansdown who moments ago said we have to keep striving for new advancement in technology," said Paul Bailey Principal SD&P Technical Director at Walt Disney Imagineering. During the awards ceremony this statement stayed true to its word. From the nominees to awards winner showcased brilliant use of technology through the art of storytelling for audiences worldwide.
The hot topic after the awards ceremony was over was how fast the advancement of technology has evolved from the past 10 years. This topic has become talked a lot throughout the industry for example, " how do you apply [technology] to storytelling and ineffective? Why and how do you use artificial intelligence to actually build characters that people can relate to but then also just how do you improve the lives of people that are actually generating this content? So, you know, I focus a lot on how do I improve?," said Bei Yang Technology Studio Executive at Walt Disney Imagineering. Yang answer is, " I just had a component that don't exist today combining [technology] in new and novel ways and misusing some technology that already exist today to create new things and I think that's generally word the industry and all the future."
